General Product Information
FloChem RO-4 is a multifunctional antiscalant and antifoulant for reverse osmosis systems, highly effective in controlling both crystallization and particulate fouling of membrane surfaces. FloChem RO-4 will control CaCO3, CaSO4, BaSO4, and CaF2 scale deposition. FloChem RO-4 is formulated to control both soluble and insoluble iron and actively disperse particulates. FloChem RO-4 is effective against silica fouling. FloChem RO-4 is designed for use in Thin Film and CA membranes.

Thermal Stability:
Thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry have shown that FloChem RO-4 is stable up to a temperature of 200ºc.
Chemical Reactivity:
FloChem RO-4 is not affected by chlorine or other oxidizing biocides under normal conditions of use. FloChem RO-4 may be used in membrane systems using chlorine an sodium metabisulphite.
Application and Dose Level
FloChem RO-4 is an aqueous solution of or organic acid and is corrosive in concentrated form. Corrosion resistant dosing equipment must therefore be used. Examples of suitable material are 316L stainless steel, or plastic such as GRP, PVC and PE. Recommended injection point is into the feed water downstream of any filtration equipment and cartridge filters.
FloChem RO-4 is miscible with water all proportions. It may be applied as the neat product, or as a solution in distillate. A minimum dosing solution strength of 10% w/w is recommended. FloChem RO-4 should be dosed continuously, and proportionately to the feed water flow, to maintain the recommended dose level.
The dose level required is dependent on the quality of the feed water and the saturation indices of the various scale forming species present in the concentrated brine. Usual dose level range between 5 – 15 ppm.
Handling & Safety
Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eye, skin or clothing. In case of accidental splashed – flush with plenty of water. And for eye contact, should have a medical attention as a safety measure.
